Ayurveda is a science of life. It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vital while realizing their full human potential. Providing guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses, Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit.  

One way to keep ourselves in balance is self care.  Take time to nourish, energize, and restore your body by stimulating and moving your lymphatic system or River of Life.  The lymphatic system strengthens the body’s immunity. The primary function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a clear, colorless fluid containing white blood cells that helps rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials.  It works as a one way river that runs from feet, hands, and head to heart.

You can keep your lymph flowing with salt scrubs, exercise, warm oils and a tool called a gua sha.  This gua sha is a small wooden, crystal, or bone material that has a dull edge that can break up any blockages you may have in your lymphatic system.  Move the gua sha in a back and forth direction on an area that has been warmed and oiled.  Your last stroke move towards your heart.

Another way you can stimulate your lymph is using a salt scrub.  Salt scrubs have an oil base that nourishes the skin and gently activates the lymph nodes. Start with your feet and rub mixture in a circular motion until an area turns pink, then move upwards towards your heart.  

Many of Poppy and Someday’s products are designed to warm, oil and support lymphatic health.  Here are two recipes so you can make your own salt scrub at home.  It is a fun way to incorporate herbs and self care into your life.


Grow and collect Lavender and Rosemary and hang on a sting until dry

Then add your dried herbs to a mason jar and then fill with olive oil

Let this herbal oil infuse in the sun for about two weeks ( get lunar energy by letting it sit under the moonlight on a new moon or full moon) Then strain this mixture with a cheese cloth.

Find a 12 to 16 oz wide mouth jar

Fill the bottom with your magical herbal oil and then add fine sea salt. Mix it up.

Then you can add essential oils of Lavender (8-10 drops) and Rosemary (5-8 drops)


Grow and collect rose petals and dry them by spreading them out on a drying rack.  

Then when dried, grind them into coarse material.

Then find a wide mouth jar.

Then fill your container with almond oil and mix with fine Himalayan salt.

Add your ground rose petals and 5 drops of Rose Geranium essential oil.
